Obtain a "Private Key" and Password

To decrypt messages, you must first obtain a "Private Key" from HEROweb, which will look something like this:

To obtain a Private Key, you will need to request one from HEROweb. You can do this by emailing us or using our contact form.

HEROweb support will then email you your Private Key and then follow-up shortly afterward with a phone call to give you the password for this Private Key.

Please save this password and keep it securely stored.
If you lose the password, you will not be able to decrypt any encrypted emails.

Importing the Private Key

The next step is to import the Private Key into Mailvelope.

Click on Mailvelope's lock icon in the toolbar to open the main menu.

Click Options to navigate to Key Management, where all the keys are stored:

From here, select "Import Keys" from the side Menu.

Now, copy and paste the Private Key from your Email.

If it was successful, you should see a "Success" confirmation message just beneath the "Import Key as Text" textarea.

Defining the primary Key

Now to ensure that this key is set to be our "Primary Key". The primary key is what Mailvelope will use by default.
Find the key that you just imported in your "Display Keys" menu.

Hover over the item with your mouse and click the ⓘ Icon

Click " Set as Primary"

Message Decryption

Whenever Mailvelope detects encrypted content in an email or on a webpage you are viewing, it marks it with a closed envelope icon.

To decrypt the message, click on this icon.

When prompted, enter your Private Key Password and click "OK".
The message should now appear in its decrypted form in your browser.
