Froogle Feed/Google Base Normally there is very little that the designer would need to do to configure a Froogle feed. The customer needs to follow the instructions below to set up their feed: docs.mightymerchant.com/home/doc/page_569 Here are some option settings you can add to the config.php that relate to a Froogle feed. $product_category="5"; This will override the default category under which all categories will be used for the froogle feed data. The data file that is sent to froogle is saved in the shop directory with the name .txt (where cookie_id is set in config.php). You can open this file to review the contents if needed. By default, all sites will send any item that IS NOT HIDDEN and is in Category 1 or any of it's subcategories (which is always the Product Catalog on new sites). If you set $product_catalog = 44 in config.php3 then all products in category 44 or it's subcategories will be saved in the feed. If all products are not found under a single category, you can set this variable in the config.php3 file: $froogle_exclude_cats = '44,3,2,23'; Where you list each category id that you do NOT want to send to froogle separated by commas. Other config fiile settings: $froogle_simple_names = 0; //set to 1 in config.php to use simple product names in the froogle feed by default product names are listed as cat_name : product_name in the feed file. In order for google to accept the feed, that text must appear on the product pages. If you do not want that text to appear, set froogle_simple_names = 1 and only the product name will appear in the feed. $froogle_no_image_file = 'cleardot.gif'; //by default if there is no image for the product, then the cleardot image will be used. If you have another image you want to use like 'product_coming_soon.gif', then put the name of it here. Troubleshooting StepsProblem. The feed didn't get uploaded. Solution. Have the customer confirm that they entered the correct ftp iinfo on both ends and that the froogle feed file name matches up on both ends (see below) Problem. The feed is uploaded but with errors. Solution. Have the customers send us the exact errors, which they should be able to see by viewing the feed details in their froogle account. Here are 1. Communicate with the customer and confirm whether they have entered a name for the froogle feed in their Google Base account. The default file name that MightyMerchant creates is --cookie_name--.txt (the cookie is the cookie value that is set in the config.php file). The name in the Site Manager must correspond with the name entered in Google Base. 2. Click the Upload Froogle Feed button in the Site Manager and see if an error is returned. 3. If there are no errors, ask the customer to log into their account and check whether the feed has been accepted. If there are errors, ask the customer to let us know what the errors are. 4. Look in the Site Manager Froogle Settings page and get the customer's ftp username and password. Try to ftp to uploads.froogle.com with the username and password and verify that you can connect.
