Posting Videos on YouTube or other Video Services
When you want to include promotional videos on your website, we recommend loading the video into an account with a video streaming service like YouTube or Vimeo, then referencing the video on your site. These videos will play directly on your website, but will be hosted on the video service server.
Here are the steps: 1. Create an account with the portal site where you will be hosting the video. This should be free. 2. Prepare the video based on the recommendations of the portal site. Typically, you should be able to create a .mov (quicktime) or a .wmv (Windows Media Viewer) file. 3. Upload the video. Sometimes there is a required approval process for uploaded video, so it will not be immediately available. 4. Copy the code snippet referencing the video. There should be specific instructions for you when you upload the video. If you go back to YouTube later to get the imbed code, click the "Share" button, then the "Embed" button to find the code. Be sure to choose an appropriate size for you video from one of the preset sizes, or you can create a custom size by entering the desired width in the custom fields. 5. Add the code in a Site Manager text field. The code must be surrounded by html tags like this: ![]() or ![]() Note: Before adding video to your website, you will want to speak with your MightyMerchant designer to see if there are any sizing restrictions on your website to consider.
Combining Videos with Pop-Out NavigationIf you have navigation that contains pop-outs, there could be an issue with the navigation popping out behind the video in certain browser. One way to help prevent this is to add a wmode parameter to the video code (although other adjustment may need to be done by your MightyMerchant designer).
If you are using the older code that begins with If you are using the newer iframe code, you should replace "rel=0" with the wmode parameter like this:
If you are using the newer iframe code and it doesn't have "?rel=0" (or similar), you should add the wmode parameter like this:
![]()
