Adding URLs in Link Fields
Note: if the link goes to another website and you would like the site to open in a new browser window, follow the link with "target=_blank." Example: http://somesite.com target=_blank Adding links in Text Fields Once you've determined the URL of the page you want to link to, follow this formula for inserting the link within your text: <html><a href=URL>Name of Site or Linked Page</a></html> Examples: <html><a href=http://somesite.com/index.html target=_blank>Some Site</a></html> or <html><a href=smartlist_8/flowers.html>Flowers</a></html> Showing an Actual URL: If you want to show an actual URL address in the text, just type the entire URL. The URL will automatically become a link in the text. Adding links with the WYSIWYG Editor1. Make a list of all the pages you want to link to. You will need to enter the entire URL for your links, even if they are going to a page on your website. 2. Open the Edit Item screen for the article that you want to add text. 3. Click "Edit Above Text with HTML editor" 4. Drag across the text you want to use for the link. 5. Click the link icon at the top of the screen (it looks like a little globe with a chain in front of it.) 6. Paste in the link address. If the link goes to a page on your website, you can leave the rest blank. If the link goes to another website, set the Window to open in a new window. Then click OK. 7. You can repeat for other links on the page. Then click the little disk icon in the top left corner of the wysiwyg editor. 8. You need to do one final step of clicking "Save" for this article.
