Domain Registration

If you have elected to have Datahost handle your domain registration

Datahost will take care of your domain renewal for you and configure the domain so it works correctly. When your domain comes up for renewal each year, Datahost will notify you to confirm whether you would like to renew.

All you will need to do is give us the ok, and we will take care of the rest.

If you have elected to maintain your own domain registration

In order to make sure your new site is active you'll need to update your "DNS Servers" to:

ns.rackspace.com
ns2.rackspace.com

This is generally a simple task and most domain registrars have instructions for carrying out this procedure.

Before updating your DNS Servers, please consider the following:

If you have a live site currently hosted with another provider, are you sure you are ready to switch to your new MightyMerchant site? Once you make the DNS switch, your old site and email services with stop functioning.
Do you want an archive of your old site? If so, you will want to download a backup copy to your hard drive before making the DNS switch.
Do you have an email account on the old server? If so, please let Datahost know if your old account has an email-forwarding capability. We will let you know how to update your email settings so there will be no email downtime during the transition.
Important: Please be sure that the contact email address you have listed with your Domain Registrar is current. If not, you risk missing the renewal message when your domain expires and potentially losing your domain.

Datahost provides domain registration services for a reasonable rate and would be happy to manage your domain registration for you, if you wish. If you want to manage your domain on your own, we urge you to keep your contact information up-to-date.
